Sessie 3 | Force-velocity assessment in sprint acceleration
Korte inhoud van de workshop
During this masterclass, the theoretical concept of force-velocity based assessment of sprint acceleration will be explored with applied examples and recent research findings in various sports in which sprint acceleration is a key performance component. We will also broadly cover the implications for training and injury prevention.
Biografie van de spreker
Prof. dr. Jeroen Aeles is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Biomechanics at the Faculty of Physical Education & Physiotherapy at Vrije Universiteit Brussel since 2023. He is also affiliated with the Functional Morphology Research Group in the Department of Biology at the UAntwerpen (University of Antwerp). Dr Aeles is the director of the Brussels Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory. His team aims at unravelling the biomechanical aspects of natural (sports, daily activities) and restricted (injury, neurological pathology) movement with particular focus on the neuromuscular system and in muscle contraction. Through valuable national and international collaborations, he seeks to further our understanding of the Biomechanics and Neuromechanics of movement from a fundamental (animal models, isolated human movement) level all the way to the applied (sports performance, rehabilitation, healthy movement) level. He has worked with many athletes at Olympic, international, and national level all the way to recreational athletes. He played an integral part in the development of force-velocity based testing of athletes with researchers at KU Leuven.
